Google is running ads on videos

The Google video web site has been one of the focus points of the selling strategy of Google. Their goal is to provide information in new medias, and video has proved to draw increasingly more attention from users.

To capitalize on this audience, Google is now running ads on the videos, which on the past were available only for a fee. With this new strategy, Google hopes to make videos available to a larger group of viewers. This certainly fits with the general strategy of the company, of making information available for everyone.

This new initiative puts Google in an area of advertisement that resembles what TVs have been doing for years: showing advertisement to users instead of charging for the content they are presenting. If successful, this will be an important step for Google video to become even more competitive against rivals such as iTunes.
